Mel split from Stephen in March 2017, and the former couple finalised their divorce later the same year in December 2017.

Although their divorce has been final for two years, the couple have since been trying to settle complicated issues regarding custody and money.????

Mel has to pay Stephen $15,000 a month in spousal support until 2020.????

She revealed in October that she is haunted by a terrifying nightmare in which her ex-husband cuts her finger off.

She said she had to be calmed down by her mother Andrea after waking up from the haunting dream, which was triggered by Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Mel was diagnosed with PTSD after she accused Stephen of emotional and physical abuse during their 10-year marriage – something which he has always vehemently denied.

Reliving the terrifying nightmare, Mel told The Sun on Sunday: ‘I came running down the stairs because I thought my ex had cut my finger off, I thought it had actually happened because he was threatening to do that.

‘I was convinced my finger was gone and my mum had to reassure me it was still there.

‘I have to remind myself that I???m living in the present and that the flashback is my brain playing tricks on me.’??

Speaking about her struggle with PTSD after their divorce was finalised in 2017, Mel previously said on Lorraine earlier this year: ‘Unfortunately I experienced a ten year marriage that was very, very abusive on every single level.

‘When I got out, I decided it was about time that I spoke about it and by speaking about it, I didn’t realise how many people had been in the same situation.

‘It’s everything that I went through and am still going through because of that abusive relationship.’

Mel also discussed how she tried to commit suicide just days before The X Factor’s 2014 final.

On her attempt to take her own life, Mel said: ‘There is a statistic that every week three women take their own lives to flee that kind of relationship.

‘That’s exactly what I did in 2014. Luckily, I was one of the lucky ones and I did come through the other side and I am here to tell my own story. It’s important to get the therapy, be nice to yourself. I still wake up, I woke up this morning with a lot of anxiety, just the shock of, “No, I am not with that person anymore. I am fine.”

‘I am building myself and healing myself. I have a lot of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy for my PTSD and anxiety. It’s just a working journey that I am going to be always working on.’??
